The Board of Musical Activities of the General Foundation of the University of Valencia began its activity in January 1998. This Board was constituted with the intention of promoting the diffusion and composition of music both within and outside the University. Thus, the primary objective is to bring music into the educational process of our university students, both in the training and the merely performing aspects.

In accordance with this premise, the Board has carried out an increasing activity based on the following cornerstones:

Own music bands

The technical coordination and promotion of its own music bands, such as the Philharmonic Orchestra of the University of Valencia, the University Choir of Valencia, La Nau Choir School of the University of Valencia, the Nau Gran Choral Club and the  Colla de Dolçaines i Percussió of the University of Valencia.

It is a group of more than 350 people who regularly rehearse during the academic year and who take part in the organisation of more than 60 concerts a year of all kinds.

Its promotion is also carried out by unique productions that have allowed us to undertake projects with an interdisciplinary approach in collaboration with renowned music directors and stage managers in opera productions, staging, etc., as well as to coordinate and produce various music festivals.

Valencian music

The Area of Musical productions have always been devoted to monographic programmes and premieres of works of Valencian music, with special attention to the recovery of our rich musical heritage (contemporary premieres) and to the development of the new musical languages (world premieres).

Training objective

On top of this, we never lose sight of the training objective that guides all our actions. All the musicians that comprise our music groups are students who wish to improve their music training by means of choral or orchestral practice. In turn, our trainees give us the chance of offering the academic community and all Valencian society a regular season of concerts.

Our Area is able to offer to the public a wide range of musical productions, from chamber or choral a cappella music to great choral symphonic pieces or operas.
